Although Apple has come out with its iPhone 4 many months ago there are still very few companies making a dedicated iPhone 4 car holder. In fact most of them relay on the fact that their product almost fits the product and will relay on the buyers ingenuity to make it work. And of course the buyers are many times at fault because some of the car holders specifically warn that they are not fit to be used with the iPhone 4. The good thing though is that two of the best car holder manufacturers have come out with an iPhone 4 car holder version each and they are both stated of the art.
The first one of those iPhone 4 car holder companies is Kensington and they have actually come up with a new version of the sound-amplification mount that they developed for the 3rd series. The basic principle that they have used is that sound amplifies as it travels through a funnel; hence the old pickup player’s shape or even of the classic speaker. And because the iPhone is already creating the sound the car holder does not need any power to amplify it and just uses a simple physics principle to take the normal sound of the iPhone and double it in loudness. Of course that is just the gimmick they developed to stay in front of the competition. Because in fact the product itself is of the highest quality, the suction cup is strong enough to withstand the challenge of any speed bump and the vent mount is equally strong and secure. Sadly because of all these advantages there is only one real competitor for the Kensington iPhone 4 car holder.
And the competitor is the Arkon iPhone 4 car holder, who may not have an amplification device but the imaginative grappling solutions position them on the same level with Kensington. First off we should note that all of their iPhone 4 car holders are very strong, supple and both the windscreen socket and the car’s air vent hooks are very strong. However where they excel is in all the innovative ways they have thought off to allow you to position your iPhone. Besides the classical windscreen and car vent devices they have created an car holder that is meant to be position on the rear view mirror. They have also come up with another device that is plugged in the car lighter port. The smart thing about it is that it does come with an additional socket so that although it takes up the car’s socket it redirects that power to another socket. The dumb thing is that they haven’t built that in a way that would allow you to automatically charge your iPhone while it was docked. Still they do show a lot of promise and innovation and given that their regular products are of the highest quality they do show great potential in the iPhone 4 car holder and accessories market.
